Peugeot is targeting a 6.3% share of fleet sales this year. Year-to-date fleet share is 5.96%, up from 5.56% in the same period last year.

The French manufacturer is putting a focus on what it calls ‘proper’ fleet business – particularly user-choosers – with the new back office support staff and three business development managers working alongside dealers to sell to business customers.

Fleet sales currently account for 48.9% of total Peugeot sales. The company has been working to improve fleet sales since it increased its dedicated corporate sales team last year.

It has also been moving away from short-term rental deals, which as Peugeot UK managing director Jon Goodman said, were deals based on “poor strategic decisions” by the manufacturer.

Daily rental once accounted for 23,000 units a year – it’s now at 13,800. The French manufacturer is also reducing its dealer numbers to 245 by June, down from 280 two years ago and from an all-time high of 330.
