Fuel cars reseller the Fuelcard Company has confirmed it will continue to campaign to cut fuel duty through support of Fair Fuel UK.

The Fuelcard Company’s marketing director, Jakes de Kock, feels there is still some way to go to convince Government that Fuel Duty should be cut to stimulate growth in the transport sector and economy as a whole.

He said: "News that the proposed 3ppl fuel duty increase has been cancelled after more than a year of deferrals was undoubtedly a huge boost to the transport sector. Yet we mustn’t forget this was simply stopping an additional rise in tax rather than addressing ways to reduce it.

"Theoretically, the UK is now out of recession which is a great boost to both consumer and business confidence, we just need to make sure this momentum is maintained.

"This is why we fully support FairFuelUK in its fight to cut fuel duty for the benefit of economic growth and convince the government to recognise that by sensibly controlling fuel duty, they will be aiding the growth of the UK economy."

Peter Carroll, founder of FairFuelUK said: "Businesses and motorists are now paying £4.5 billion less to the Treasury as a result of our campaign. We now need to build on that success and fight for real cuts in Fuel Duty that we have proven through commissioned economic research will stimulate growth and help get the UK out of its current fiscal difficulties."
