BMW will add a lower-priced version of the 1 Series diesel to price lists soon with production starting in November.

The 114d will use a version of the 1.6-litre version of the four-cylinder diesel engine and has a maximum output of 95bhp with a peak torque of 174lb-ft.

It accelerates from zero to 62mph in 12.2 seconds, with a maximum speed of 115mph. Fuel consumption is 65.7mpg in the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 112g/km.

The new BMW 114d is fitted as standard with a suite of BMW EfficientDynamics technologies, including brake energy regeneration, gear-shift indicator, stop/start, electric power steering, active aerodynamics and reduced rolling resistance tyres.

In addition, the new BMW 114d also comes with Eco Pro mode as standard helping coach the driver in the fuel-efficient driving style.

The BMW 114d is available to order now on both the 3-door and 5-door variants, but pricing is yet to be confirmed. However, it it likely that the car will be less than £19,000 on the road.
