Autobase GB joins Fix Auto network

Darlaston-based Autobase GB Ltd has become the latest bodyshop to join the Fix Auto network.

The new franchisee, linked to a Citroen main dealership situated between Wolverhampton and Walsall, will operate as Fix Auto Wednesbury and becomes the network’s 16th bodyshop site in the Midlands region, and the 76th overall.

Ali Allibhai, owner of Fix Auto Wednesbury and Autobase Citroen admits that becoming part of Fix Auto UK is a key part of his strategy to turn-around what was an ailing dealership business into an award-winning operation, a transformation which started immediately after he bought it in 2011.

Comprising 22 work bays, three spraybooths and a workforce of 21, the PAS 125 accredited centre holds vehicle manufacturer approval status for Citroen, Peugeot and Hyundai and is currently repairing up to 120 vehicles a month.  Allibhai’s ambition is to increase productivity to 160 vehicle repairs a month.

He said: “I saw a huge potential in the entire dealership business which, prior to taking it over, had suffered from years of underinvestment. Since 2011, we have successfully transformed the sales and servicing division into an award-winning business.  Now, with Fix Auto UK’s help and guidance, it’s the turn of the bodyshop.”

Since buying the business, Autobase was named New Business of the Year by the British Asian Business Association and scooped the new Citroen New Dealer of the Year 2013 on the Citroen Excellence Awards night and in July this year was named as a finalist in the coveted Motor Trader Dealer of the Year Award.

Ian Pugh, Fix Auto UK’s managing director, said: “It is always a delight to announce a new franchisee and I was pleased to welcome Fix Auto Wednesbury to our Conference.

“In a relatively short period of time Ali’s drive and determination has transformed the business into an award winning operation. Together, with the support and guidance of our operations and marketing teams, I believe we can replicate that success for his bodyshop. Once again, I firmly believe this is going to be another exciting partnership.”
