Company Car in Action 2023
14-15 June 2023, Millbrook Proving Ground

Company Car in Action 2023 will be the biggest ever fleet driving event run by Fleet News with an incredible 35 manufacturer brands bringing their newest cars and vans for fleet decision-makers to test.
It marks the return to CCIA of four Volkswagen Group brands – Audi, Cupra, Skoda and Volkswagen - after a lengthy absence plus, for the first time, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, as well as the show debut of Chinese electric vehicle new entrant BYD and electric light commercial vehicle maker Maxus.
From newer entrants to mid segment to premium brands, this is a veritable ‘who’s who’ of vehicle manufacturers, with something to appeal to every fleet decision-maker. This is the greatest opportunity for you to find out which models will best suit your fleet choice lists over the coming years, with the emphasis on full electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid.
Company Car in Action 2022 - Day one highlights
Company Car In Action returns to UTAC Millbrook’s bespoke testing facility in Bedfordshire, giving fleets a unique opportunity to put vehicles through their paces on four courses: Alpine hill, high speed bowl, last mile delivery circuit and off-road route.
Key models that fleets will be able to test for the first time in the UK include:
· Nissan Townstar electric van
· Renault Austral E-Tech hybrid
· Abarth 500 BEV
· Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV
· Citroen C5X hybrid
· Jeep Avenger electric
· Peugeot 408 hybrid
· Vauxhall Astra BEV
· BYD Atto3
There will also be static displays of the electric Ford Explorer, the new electric Genesis GV60, Hyundai pre-production Kona electric and the 2024 model-year Polestar 2, as well as a host of models being brought to CCIA for the first time, such as the Volkswagen ID family, MG5 EV, Kia Niro BEV/PHEV, Ford E-Transit and BMW i7.
Paul Kirby, ‘the electric van man’ and owner of EV Essentials, has assembled his own selection of electric vans from a variety of manufacturers for fleet decision-makers to see and drive, and will be at CCIA to share his expertise on making a smooth transition to electric.
Vital EV is supporting CCIA as the event’s Official Charging Partner. The firm’s Kempower T-Series mobile EV Chargers will provide charging for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles taking part.
Mobility and leasing provider Athlon is sponsoring the website, registration and central café.

It’s not just about driving, however. With unique access to the fleet teams at all these major brands, fleet decision-makers can use CCIA to make contacts, ask questions and find out more about upcoming models.
Away from the steering pad, there’s plenty more to do at CCIA. We’ve identified two key topics that fleet decision-makers have told us they want to learn more about: tackling the rising cost of insurance and electric vehicle pitfalls to avoid.
Throughout the two days, expert speakers will present on these topics and be on hand to answer your questions.
Licence checking for all drivers is being carried out this year by Matrix iQ who will contact all registered individuals ahead of the show. Once checked, keep an eye on your inbox to pre-book up to three of your most anticipated fleet vehicles with the rest available to book on the day.

The seminars
Two seminars will be held on each day of Company Car In Action 2023 featuring key topics that fleet decision-makers have said are major challenges.
Tackling the rising cost of insurance:
10:00-11:00 on June 14
11:30-12:30 on June 15
Sponsored by:
With insurance premiums and damage costs rising, there are several measures fleets can take to address both issues which will be addressed in this semiar:
· Encouraging safe driving: promoting safe driving practices through education, training and awareness campaigns can help reduce the number of accidents, leading to lower insurance premiums.
· Embracing technology: the use of advanced safety features and technology, such as autonomous emergency braking, to help reduce the likelihood and severity of accidents, leading to lower insurance premiums.
· Controlling costs: should a driver be involved in an incident; time is money when it comes to insurance. Speedy incident reporting – first notification of loss – will help to control third party costs and keep your insurance premiums under control.
· Tackling fraud: there are several measures fleet can take to protect themselves and their drivers from fraudulent claims.
· To bundle or unbundle: your insurance options and what suits your fleet’s needs best.
Speakers:
June 14: Christine Emery, LeasePlan account director and Stewart Lightbody, fleet management lead, Severn Trent
June 15: Chris Beaumont, LeasePlan account director and Duncan Webb, fleet director, the AA
Electric Vehicle charging pitfalls to avoid:
11:30-12:30 on June 14
10:00-11:00 on June 15
Installing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is an important step for fleets looking to transition their vehicles to full electric but it requires careful planning and consideration.
By determining your fleet's needs, choosing the right charging stations, planning the installation, future-proofing your infrastructure, considering the timing, taking advantage of incentives, and educating your employees, you can successfully transition your vehicles to full electric.
This seminar session will provide you with advice and guidance on EV charging policies, to help you through the process.
Speakers:
June 14/15: Electric van man Paul Kirby, owner of EV Essentials, and Dean Hedger, senior business development manager for Vital EV(June 14)/Liam Campbell, head of marketing for Vital EV (June 15)
The vehicles
Audi
The transition to electrification is rapidly accelerating. To support fleets on this journey, Audi will feature two of its award-winning vehicles and have experts ready to offer their advice.
These fleet specialists will be accompanied by the fully electric Q4 e-tron and Q8 e-tron, both of which are playing a key role in helping businesses electrify.
Available in a compact SUV or coupé-like Sportback design, the Q4 e-tron delivers a premium experience in addition to the benefits of being fully electric. This spacious vehicle has a range of up to 328 miles (WLTP) and can be charged from 5-80% in as little as 29 minutes.
Audi’s largest fully electric vehicle, the Q8 e-tron, combines luxury and innovative technology with an impressive range of up to 330 miles (WLTP). This certified net-carbon neutral vehicle can be charged from 10-80% in just 31 minutes.
Also on display will be the e-tron GT, which brings four decades of quattro engineering heritage into the electric era. Accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 4.1 seconds and with up to 530 PS, the e-tron GT is capable of up to 303 miles (WLTP) from a single charge.
An Audi spokesperson said: "These electrifying vehicles represent an important step towards helping businesses reduce their emissions."

BYD
Chinese new entrant BYD (Build Your Dreams) will make its CCIA debut with the new Atto 3 all-electric compact SUV.
Competing against the likes of the Volkswagen ID4 and MG4, the Atto 3 stands out from the crowd particularly with its interior design. CCIA will be the first opportunity for fleets to test the car on a variety of routes.
A 12.8-inch infotainment screen rotates at the touch of a button to offer landscape or portrait viewing. It is complemented by shortcut buttons and ‘Hi BYD’ voice control.
There is no binnacle embedded into the dashboard; it’s replaced by a small digital screen attached to the steering wheel which shows key info.
Safety is a priority for BYD and the car has attained a Euro NCAP five-star rating (91% for adult occupants).
Range from the 60.5kWh battery is 260 miles (WLTP combined), rising to 351 miles on the city rating. BYD says it can be charged from 30-80% in 29 minutes on a 150kW rapid charger.
Mark Blundell, BYD UK marketing & PR manager said: "BYD are delighted to debut at this year’s Company Car In Action where we’re looking forward to introducing our brand, products and technology to key fleet decisions makers in the UK.”
Also on the stand will be a static display of a prototype Dolphin electric five-door hatchback. The car, which is scheduled for launch in the UK late summer/early autumn, promises range of up to 265 miles.

With a range of up to 341 miles on a fully charged 77kWh battery and fast charging from 0% to 80% in just 36 minutes, the Born offers sharp and sporty handling, without compromising on comfort.
Also available to drive is the Formentor e- Hybrid (PHEV). It features a hybrid powertrain, up to 310PS, 4Drive Technology and a seven-speed direct shift gearbox, with a combined range of up to 491 miles.

The company will showcase its latest electric models as it transitions towards a target of selling only full electric cars in the UK by 2030, while two-thirds of its commercial vehicles will be full electric or plug-in hybrid by the same date.
With nine battery electric vehicles scheduled for introduction by the end of 2024, Ford is building rapidly towards a sustainable future. One of those, the Explorer, will be a static display at the show.
