Called eZeText, the software enables users to send text messages from their PC to any mobile phone on any network for a maximum of 7p (plus VAT). The software is downloaded from the internet and self-installed to a desktop or laptop. The system can be used to send messages about whether a driver's company car is due for a service, or alert all drivers to a change in fleet policy.
Graham Redfern, business development manager for eZeText, said: 'This launch gives professionals the chance to contact customers, colleagues, their sales force or suppliers at any time and for a fraction of the cost of a voice call, a letter or fax.
'Recent research shows that recipients find text messages less intrusive, yet harder to ignore, than other forms of communication.'
The eZeText software costs £65 (plus VAT) per copy, with discounts for buyers of more than 10 licences.
