HERTZ has launched a new service offering customers the chance to select certain prestige models for hire from locations in France, Germany and the UK.

The Hertz Prestige Collection operates from Charles, De Gaulle and Nice airports in France, Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf airports in Germany, and from Heathrow and Gatwick airports and also Marble Arch in the UK.

It will add further locations throughout 2003. The new service targets both business and leisure travellers.

'The Hertz Prestige Collection complements our core car rental business with a new niche market for prestige vehicles and first class service,' said Hertz Europe divisional vice-president Michel Taride.

'This programme is unique in the car rental industry, the combination of first class service along with a group of prestigious vehicles make this a must for the discerning traveller.'

Across the European locations, the type of vehicles offered include Mercedes CLK, Mercedes E and S class, BMW 5 and 7 series, ad the Volvo S80 and V70.

Hertz UK marketing director Jean Burke added: 'This collection represents a marriage of fine vehicles and first class service from Hertz and is consistent with our view that people who select a prestige vehicle expect the highest level of service to match the driving experience.'

Hertz said other services offered to the customer are:

  • Dedicated on-site staffing to assist customers and escort them to their cars.
  • Vehicles parked in easily accessible dedicated parking bays.
  • Vehicle specific user guides will highlight key benefits and features.
  • The ability to book via phone or through a travel agent.
  • All cars hand valeted before rental.
