BRAKE is calling on companies to show their support for Road Safety Week which begins on Monday.

The theme this year, says Brake, is 'whatever you want it to be'. 'We are encouraging companies to run initiatives according to whatever theme is most relevant for them and whatever road safety messages they want to promote', said Brake.

Brake will be focussing on drink-driving in its work. Research by Brake and Green Flag has found that half of drivers admit to drink-driving and one in 10 admit doing so at least once a month.

Brake will be in 13 cities raising awareness of the dangers of drink-driving, using the slogan 'never drink and drive - NOT A DROP'.

Companies can get involved by working with Brake or other local organisations to plan and hold road safety initiatives.

One idea is to sponsor a Road Safety Week banner for display on buildings. They measure 6m x 0.75m and can include a company-specific message. They cost £525 + VAT for companies and £375 + VAT for local authorities.
