JAGUAR took the unofficial title of having the most 'bling' vehicle at the New York International Auto Show with the unveiling of the XJ-based Concept Eight.

Developed from the new long-wheelbase model, also unveiled at the show, the car has been extensively reworked beneath its large single-piece glass sunroof. But this is not one for the busy company director – there are no laptop computers, satellite uplinks or plasma screens.

Instead, it has inch-deep handmade carpets, chilled champagne, bespoke Waterford crystal flutes and even essential oils, allowing occupants to sit back and enjoy the ride. Ian Callum, director of design at Jaguar, said: 'We haven't built this car for work, but for luxurious entertaining on those long, late nights out.'
