THE latest appointments in the fleet industry.

  • TOD Evans, chairman at PSA Peugeot Citroen UK, has been re-elected as president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). In 1981 he joined Talbot Motoring Company as marketing director, moving to Peugeot Talbot in 1984. In 1999, he was appointed managing director of Peugeot Motor Company. He became chairman of PSA Peugeot Citroen UK in March 2003 and was elected to his first term as SMMT president in June 2003.

  • RENAULT'S specialist light commercial vehicle (LCV) fleet team has appointed two new fleet account managers. David Jacobs joins from Renault Business Finance and will be responsible for fleet operations for Government, public sector and utilities. Jan Gerring joins from Toyota and will be responsible for the south west and south Wales areas. Mark Lovett has also been promoted to national fleet sales manager. Formerly UK brand manager for LCVs, Lovett will head a nine-strong team.

  • CAR rental group Alliance Asset Management has recruited Ed Hilliam as operations manager. Hilliam has more than 20 years' industry experience and will be responsible for logistics and day-to-day operations. He will also manage the de-fleeting of the Alliance fleet. Hilliam was operations manager at Powermarque.

  • SEKO Worldwide, a freight forwarding and logistics solutions provider, has appointed Marva Washburn as vice-president for international business development. She will be responsible for training Seko representatives, managing bids for customer export and import operations. Washburn has several years' experience in the global logistics industry including 14 years at Circle International.

  • ONLINE leasing and fleet management group Tuskerdirect has appointed Alison Argall as business development manager. She will be responsible for identifying new business and joins from Alcester, where she was sales manager. Before that she worked in the financial services industry.

  • ALISTAIR Darling, Secretary of State for transport has appointed David Leeder as vice chairman of the Commission for Integrated Transport. Leeder is managing director of First Group's UK Bus Division. He is former president and now board member of the Confederation of Passenger Transport and replaces Sir Trevor Chinn. Garrett Emmerson, Peter Hendy and Richard Turner have also been appointed commission members.

  • ANDY Crinson has joined Guy Salmon Prestige Rental as general manager. Crinson has more than 20 years experience in the car rental industry and joins from National Car Rental and Alamo Car Rental where he was regional director (north). In his new role Crinson will be responsible for improving market share and expanding the group.
