Vauxhall says Tecshift offers both ‘auto’ and ‘manual’ modes and saves around 8% on fuel and cuts wear and tear on drive line components too.
In auto mode, the transmission moves up and down gears according to engine speed and load. In ‘manual’ mode, it is like a sequential gearbox, with the driver moving the gear lever forward for up-shifts and backward for down-shifts.
The driver also has a ‘fully laden’ auto mode that varies the shift pattern to meet the higher load on the engine, holding on to gears longer before changing up. There is also a self-learning function that can adapt the shift pattern to suit an individual driver’s style.
