WE’VE seen several concept cars of Mitsubishi’s new Lancer family, headed by the Evo X, but the production version is still six months away.

This prototype of the 300bhp Evo X has been caught high-speed testing as Mitsubishi readies the car for its world debut at September’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Lancer arrives in the UK next February, and as well as the four-wheel Evo there will be more prosaic 1.5 and 2.0-litre petrols offering between 108 and 150bhp. A turbo Lancer Ralliart model with 200bhp will bridge the gap between the regular and Evo models.
