Volvo will introduce a specially modified C30 model next year which reduces CO2 emissions to below 120g/km.

The C30 Efficiency uses a revised version of the 105bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine, as well as improved aerodynamics, revised gearing and low rolling-resistance tyres, to drop the model into band B for VED. Fuel economy will rise to 62.8mpg on the combined cycle.

  • Audi’s low emission A3 1.9 TDI model, which emits 119g/km of CO2 and returns 62.7mpg, will cost £16,660 when it goes on sale next month.
