David Stanley, head of business development, Carillion Fleet Management

  • How was your first week?

    Interesting but tiring with lots of induction activities. I spent the week getting to know the Carillion Fleet Management team and trying to understand where we fit in relation to the rest of the Carillion Group.

  • What is your career history?

    I started in the fleet business nearly 20 years ago, initially with Lex, then with ACL which later became Lloyds TSB autolease. I have seen a few changes over the years, but it is still a great industry to work in.

  • How do you deal with stress at work?

    Take deep breaths and tell myself things could be worse, then hope that they are not.

  • Do you have a motto?

    Work hard, stay cheerful and smile.

  • What is the best advice you have been given?

    Have a positive attitude and spread it around. Never let yourself be a victim and for goodness’ sake have fun.

  • Where would you love to work?

    As a cameraman following the professional golf circuit around the world.
