DTEC International has launched a new drug testing kit for van fleet operators.

“This test involves a simple, non-invasive, five-second wipe on the skin,” said managing director Ean Lewin, MD.

“The system gives the result, without an electronic reader, in five minutes, allowing a ‘clear’ driver to proceed.”

If, however the result is positive, Dtec can have a specialist subcontractor on site in two hours to arrange legally defensible laboratory screening.

Mr Lewin added: “We can provide Home Office traffic police specification breathalysers for alcohol sampling at the same time.

"Screening improves safety and cuts potential corporate manslaughter liability. This will pay for itself by cutting downtime from repairs to damage caused by misjudgement.”
