Prices and specifications for the new five-door SEAT Ibiza have been revealed.

The hatchback goes on sale on July 16 and will cost from £8,995, a £300 saving over the cheapest car in the outgoing Ibiza range.

A new trim structure will be introduced, starting from the entry-level S to the mid-range SE and top-end Sport models.

Only petrol engines will be available at launch – a brand new range of diesel engines are expected early next year.

An entry-level 1.2-litre S with 69bhp will cost £8,995 and includes electric front windows, an auxiliary socket for MP3 players and steering column-mounted audio controls.

The SE starts at £10,395 with a 1.4-litre, 84bhp engine.

SE spec features electric mirrors and rear windows, air conditioning and 15-inch alloys.

The Sport edition starts at £10,695 for the 84bhp engine.

It features sports suspension and seats and 16-inch alloys.

Various add-on packs are available offering features such as parking sensors, automatic wipers and ESP.

Steve Robertson, SEAT UK’s head of marketing, said: “We’ve looked long and hard at the supermini sector and I’m convinced the pricing and specification options put the new Ibiza in a particularly strong position.”
