Fleet managers are being urged to ensure their foreign drivers are properly registered.
Unless foreign drivers are registered with the DVLA, any driving offences in their home country are not accessible to an employer.
Likewise, new offences cannot be recorded unless they are registered.
Therefore, AA Business Services is recommending fleet managers ensure that any of their drivers holding a foreign license but residing in the UK have completed the DVLA’s D9 form.
The D9 form makes a foreign motorist’s driving record in this country accessible to employers meaning they can see if the driver has a history of motoring offences.
It also means that all of a business’s drivers – both foreign and domestic – are scrutinised for risk on the same level playing field.
