Nexus Vehicle Rental has launched an initiative that enables fleets to offset carbon emissions for virtually any vehicles they rent.
Under the scheme, fleets select their rental vehicle by its CO2 emissions – Nexus works as an intermediary for national rental groups and small independents alike – and should the fleet decide to offset the emissions, it pays an additional 40p per day.
The money is invested in making energy saving cooking stoves for families in Kenya, replacing fuel intensive open fires and reducing the release of carbon emissions. It is run by co2balance.
“Our goal is to give customers the ability to reduce their carbon emissions in a simple way – with tangible benefits,” said Neil McCrossan, Nexus Vehicle Rental CEO. “We are the first rental company to do this.”
Co2balance is also working with leasing firm Carline on the carbon offsetting project for Kenya.
