BMW was named Green Fleet Manufacturer of the year in the 2010 Fleet News awards

BMW’s structures and processes are geared towards sustainability, from the boardroom in Munich to individual target agreements for managers.

Because the concept is embraced at all levels of the company, it benefits not only tailpipe emissions, but also manufacturing and logistics. This ethos has produced some impressive numbers. In 2009 it supplied 30,000 BMWs with EfficientDynamics technology, including the new BMW 320d which boasts emissions of just 109g/km.

EfficientDynamics has now been fitted to all cars across all BMW and Mini ranges, and 600 fully-electric Mini E vehicles are being assessed in field trials.

Judges’ comments
Unlike its rivals with special green brands, BMW’s green offering is available on all its vehicles. EfficientDynamics helps reduce tax burdens, and lowers fuel bills and emissions. Fleets can ‘think green’ without limiting the choice of cars available to their drivers.

Shortlist

  • BMW
  • Ford Motor Company
