Infiniti is to open a new retail centre in St. Albans in partnership with dealer group Glyn Hopkin.

Redevelopment will soon take place to accommodate the brand on a site with a number of other marques.

Infiniti regional director Steve Oliver commented: “This new agreement represents the first of several new Infiniti centres that will be opening up over the next few years. To get a centre operating in this important area so close to London will help generate awareness of the brand and build on our ever growing customer base.”

Fraser Cohen, managing director of Glyn Hopkin said: “The Infiniti brand is starting to grow in the UK and with many exciting new products coming through over the next few years it’s a great time for us to become an Infiniti partner. These are also exciting times for the Glyn Hopkin group as we continue to grow beyond expectation towards 30 dealerships representing 10 different brands. Having the premium marque of Infiniti within our portfolio helps us to offer our customers a wider choice than ever before.”

The opening of the new site will coincide with the introduction of the all new Infiniti Q50. A premium sports saloon packed with leading edge technologies. It is also the first Infiniti with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine emitting 115g/Km of CO2 with 170bhp and 295lb-ft of torque.

Alongside this version is a full-blooded hybrid designed with both performance and efficiency in mind. Power comes from a 3.5-litre V6 engine boosted by a 50kW electric motor, which assists at low speed and allows emission-free motoring at cruising speeds. As a result, this dual-character car can accelerate from 0-62mph in under 5.5 seconds and emits 155g/km of CO2.
