Road Angel, the GPS-based safety camera detection system, has been acquired by multi-national retail distribution giant In Phase International.

The safety camera and black spot locators company is also known for its internet connected devices, tracking products and its accident camera system Road Angel Halo.

Specialising in the automotive sector, In Phase International distributes branded products throughout the UK and across Europe, including Alpine, Clarion, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer and Sony.

It has pledged to invest about £5 million into new product research and development.

Following the multi-million pound acquisition, Gary Digva, director of In Phase International, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have brought this iconic motoring brand into the In Phase International family.

“We are dedicated to developing and distributing products and services for the keen motorist, whether that is car audio, satellite navigation, in-car entertainment or hands-free kits.

“We know that fines for speeding are in sharp focus at the moment for many of our customers but our mission is going to be one of education and speed awareness as much as anything.

“We want to make motoring as safe, enjoyable and hassle-free as possible for our customers and by acquiring Road Angel, we can now add its incredible range of safety products and services to our offering.

“We will be investing heavily over the coming years in new products and services and have already boosted the customer services teams to ensure as seamless a transition as possible.

“We have also moved our data servers across to a state-of-the-art data centre to ensure that not only are our systems as fast and efficient as possible, our customers’ data is as safe as possible too.”
