Targa Telematics has launched a new product aimed at identifying and reducing unnecessary costs for fleet managers.

It says Targa Lite aims to tackle two areas in particular: correctly attributing business and private mileage to ensure the correct payments are made, as well as monitoring the extra costs of employees refuelling without paying due attention to the price of fuel per litre.

Alberto Falcione, sales VP at Targa Telematics, said: “With Targa Lite, our goal is to provide a valuable tool to support the daily operations of the fleet manager.

“A tool that brings consistent savings not only to the company but also to the employee and the community, in terms of reducing waste and fuel use”.

Targa Lite works by installing an IoT device on fleet vehicles which sends data to a web platform which allows operators to set their own parameters to monitor performance.

The information required by the platform is linked to the work calendar, the fuel card and the tolerance threshold that each fleet manager sets with respect to fuel use.

Once this data has been entered, the fleet manager can set his savings targets and monitor their achievement.

They can also decide whether to apply corrective measures to the entire fleet, parts thereof or specific groups.
