Menzies Distribution has launched a newstrade logistics hub in Inverness which will be open 24-hours a day, managing newspaper and magazine deliveries and returns for retailers.

Retailers were previously served from a distribution centre that handled both newstrade and parcel deliveries, however, its new site will provide sole support for newstrade functions only.

The company continues to invest in its logistic capabilities, extending their operations after continued growth.

Mark Cassie, operations director at Menzies Distribution said, “We are delighted to announce the opening of our new newstrade logistics hub in Inverness which will provide around the clock, against the clock services to our newstrade customers.

“We are committed to supporting our publishers and retailers and remain committed to ensuring a sustainable route to market.”

Currently, it distributes around 30 million newstrade products per week, and makes more than 25,000 retail drops each day.

A combined 110 million consignments of retail stock, parcels, newsprint and marketing materials are delivered across the UK every year, with the company working every day of the week, all year round.

Its new Inverness hub will form part of its network of 65 depots.

Earlier this year, FTA gave Menzies Distribution (Swindon depot) its Roadworthiness Award.

This award was introduced in 2007.

Menzies Distribution was acknowledged for its maintenance of 18 vehicles, tractor units and trailers.

The FTA provides vehicle inspections in order to help companies ensure they are achieving the highest levels of safety and compliance.
