Ryder is expanding its Devizes operations, creating 25 new roles within its FleetCare business.

As part of Ryder’s nationwide office and workshop network, Devizes is a key operational centre for supporting the company’s 20,000 rental and leased vans, trucks and trailers.

It provides nationwide maintenance support, a 24/7 national breakdown service, and a large team of qualified maintenance and service technicians, engineers and customer service co-ordinators.

Ryder has recently invested in a substantial refurbishment and telecommunications upgrade of its Devizes location to accommodate the expansion of its FleetCare operations.

With a team of more than 100 already based in Devizes, the company is recruiting an additional 25 new roles. These new office-based roles include compliance and customer service administrators, maintenance controllers, maintenance engineers, and a FleetCare supervisor.

Successful candidates are likely to have experience gained either within a commercial vehicle shop floor environment, HGV roadside assistance environment or a customer contact centre, it said.

For the engineering roles, their mechanical engineering expertise and industry experience will provide professional technical support to customers and suppliers to optimise vehicle uptime.

Tony Roebuck, Ryder external and mobile operations director, said: "Ryder is continually investing in the skills and capabilities of our people to improve the 24/7 service support we provide to keep our customers’ fleets running reliably, efficiently and safely.

“Devizes is a strategically important operation for Ryder and we are delighted to be making these significant investments at this time.”

He continued: "Many of our customers are involved in transporting essential supplies across the UK, and Ryder is working hard to keep supply chains moving during these difficult times.

“Health and safety is our top priority and we have adjusted our working practices so we can work safely while supporting our customers’ transport operations.

“At the same time, we remain focussed on building for the future. Our recruitment drive to fill the 25 new positions at Devizes has got off to a good start as we have already successfully welcomed on board some great new team members. We aim to fill all of the remaining new positions by the beginning of August."
