Certas Energy has launched an integrated fleet management system called FuelTrace that aims to deliver total fleet visibility to transport operators.

By combining driver performance scores, accurate MPG measurements, fuel card data and journey history, Certas Energy says that FuelTrace helps fleet managers reduce costs, improve driver safety and reduce the volume of admin tasks.

The system draws on data from telematics, GPS technology and onboard diagnostics to automatically provide fleet managers with a range of reports and metrics via a browser-based dashboard and mobile app.

It also integrates with fuel card data to offer fleet managers a complete picture of fuel expenditure and accurate MPG measurements.

Any suspected fuel card misuse triggers a real-time SMS or email alert to limit potential financial losses from fraud or theft.

In addition, FuelTrace tracks a number of driver performance indicators - including idling, harsh braking or cornering, and speeding - to help fleet managers improve fuel economy. This information can be used to highlight where training is required to improve driver safety and road awareness.

Meanwhile, FuelTrace’s Geo-Plus feature cross-references fuel card usage with vehicle location to notify fleet managers if a card is used without the presence of an associated vehicle.

For enhanced security, Geo-Plus can be used in combination with FuelTrace’s Geo-fencing feature to place a ‘protective ring’ around a fleet’s main operating bases.

If a vehicle leaves the fenced area outside of normal hours, fleet managers will be notified immediately, allowing users to contact security services to minimise losses to their business.

Rob Fitzpatrick, technology manager at Certas Energy, said: “Operating a fleet of over 900 vehicles ourselves, we recognise the challenge of achieving total fleet visibility.

“We’re excited to be launching FuelTrace to give transport operators a complete view of their fleet and the opportunity to identify the real cost of each journey.

“The technology accelerates the move away from pen and paper fleet management to save businesses huge amounts of time by streamlining administration.

“Plus, with fuel accounting for 38% of fleet expenditure, FuelTrace data supports operators to make fuel efficiency improvements that can have a significant impact on the bottom line.”

FuelTrace also digitalises day-to-day tasks such as daily vehicle check information, timesheets and defect management.
