VMS Fleet Management invested £10 million to refrigerate more than 250 rental vans, due to an “incredibly” successful year and anticipated summer demand.

Due to be rolled out between January and April this year, the new vehicles in its rental division VMS Vehicle Hire will range from Mercedes Sprinters and Vitos, Renault Masters and Traffics, including, SWB, MWB, LWB and Luton Boxes.

The vans will include a variety of configurations such as single and twin evaporator systems, single and dual compartments, chilled, frozen & dual temperature with standby to meet the ever increasing needs of the catering and events sectors.

VMS Fleet Management’s managing director Martin James said: “The investment of over 250 new refrigerated vans for our ever growing division VMS Vehicle Hire is an exciting step forward for us as a business.

“With the need for refrigerated vans being higher than it ever has before, we want to ensure that our customers always have access to the best, top of the range vehicles at all times.”

The investment coincides perfectly with the new Ultra Low Emissions Zone laws (ULEZ) coming into effect on April, 8 2019 across central London.

The ULEZ laws will require all vans, lorries and cars to meet new and far stricter exhaust emission standards to help with the cleaner air policy rippling through the capital.

“We fully understand the impact vehicles have on the environment, which is why I believe whole heartedly in investing money into areas of the business that can help with the new ULEZ laws coming into place,” said James.

“I have always believed in helping our customers make smarter and better decisions when it comes to their fleet requirements that will not only save their business money, but will have less affect on the environment too.”

The business is already planning further investment in time for the summer.
