Nissan has introduced the Nissan Townstar Van L2 (long wheelbase) to its Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) line-up in the UK.

It provides an increased cargo capacity and a length likened to that of a mid-size van.

Nissan says it meets the needs of small and medium enterprise (SME) owners, fleet companies and municipalities who require a versatile and efficient transportation solution.

“Poised by the success of the Nissan Townstar Van, we decided to innovate, explore and go even further. With a significantly higher cargo capacity, remarkable payload, impressive towing capacity and increased length, the Townstar L2 has most of the traits of a mid-sized EV van – but at a small van price! This will appeal hugely to SME customers, municipalities and beyond”, said Nicolas Tschann, Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) director, Nissan Europe.

The Nissan Townstar Van L2 has a length of 4,910mm, which allows for a wider side door of 831mm, ensuring customers can load one Euro pallet.

This increased length creates a cargo capacity of 4.3 cubic metres, representing a significant increase on the L1’s capacity of 3.3 cubic metres. The payload of the new model is up to 800Kg, thanks to revised rear suspension, while the maximum towing capacity of 1,500kg remains the same.

Nissan launched the Townstar in October 2022, as a replacement for its NV200 and NV250 vans. It shares a platform with the Renault Kangoo and Mercedes-Benz Citan

The van is available with a 1.3-litre petrol engine or with an electric powertrain,

The electric Townstar Van L2 has an urban cycle range of up to 242 miles and a total combined range of up to 171 miles.

It comes with a 45kWh battery that allows both AC (11/22 kW) or DC charging (up to 80kW); and offers 245Nm of torque from its 90kW motor.

The Townstar Van L2 is also equipped with an array of active and passive safety features, such as Blind Spot Warning, ProPILOT and – unique to Nissan in the segment – Intelligent Around View Monitor.

Both EV and ICE versions of the all-new Nissan Townstar Van L2 are available to pre-order now, with basic list prices starting from £21,625 (ICE) and £33,945 (EV).
