We are working with a leading logistics organisation looking for a Assistant Transport Manager to join the team based in Essex.
You will be reporting to the Transport Manager and have a direct responsibility for day-to-day management and supervision of the company drivers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work alongside the Transport Manager to ensure targets are being achieved
* Ensure all legal compliance is in conjunction with the Fleet team
* Supervision of drivers
* Oversee and manage the driver recruitment process
* Ensure all HR files are maintained and up to date
* Liaison with the Planning team leader to fulfil customer demand
* Be one of the main point of contact for driver issues
* Responsible for vehicle and license checks
* Management and identification of training needs
* Liaison with training providers
* Implement safety and quality standards
* Be involved in disciplinary management, safety forums and driver holiday management
* Be responsible for driver performance
* Oversee Tachograph management
* Assist in conducting investigation and disciplinary procedures
Experience Requirements:
* Background within a Freight/Logistics environment
* Strong communication skills
* Transport Manager CPC desirable
* Confident managing a large team of drivers
* Experience in driver legislation such as Tachograph
* Experience working within a unionized environment is advantageous
