Kia has revealed the latest version of its best-selling Sportage SUV ahead of the car's launch later this year.

Among the revisions are new bumpers and headlights, giving the Sportage a bolder look that is more aligned to its electric models.

The new LED headlights flank a wider grille and incorporate vertical running lights to complement the squarer design.

From the side profile and rear-end, the facelifted Sportage looks more familiar, although the rear lighting has been tweaked and there are some new alloy wheel designs.

Inside, the Sportage gets a new dashboard with a slimmer profile. The instrument cluster and infotainment screen are paired in a panoramic panel that is mounted lower than before. There's also a new steering wheel.

The infotainment system runs Kia's latest software, which enables over-the-air updates and a feature-on-demand platform with arcade games, YouTube and other video streaming services.

Switchgear remains plentiful, as before, with Kia's multifunction touch panel offering quick access to all the multimedia and climate control functions. The raised centre console houses a rotary gear selector and buttons for the heated seats.

New upholstery options include black or white artifical leather and suede. The interior also features a higher content of recycled materials.

Boot space measures 587 litres, and up to 1,776 litres with the second-row seats folded.

Kia will initially offer the Sportage with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a updated full hybrid powertrain. The plug-in hybrid version will come later, although Kia is yet to confirm any details of the UK model line up.

Pricing and specifications are expected ahead of the car's on sale date, in the summer.
