Fleet Manager Job, Birmingham City Centre, Competitive Salary, Leading Local Authority
Your new company
Birmingham City Council is the largest authority in Europe offering modernised working environments in a central city location. There are great transport links as well as the council offering opportunities for long term temporary work. You’ll also be working in a city engaging in exciting initiatives such as HS2, preparation for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and The Big City Plan.
Your new role
As an experienced Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for the heavy good vehicles for Birmingham City Council, including the waste management vehicles. You will be responsible for all fleet management duties including overseeing driver training and liaising with contractors and third parties. You will also be responsible for auditing vehicle fuel usage to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum and that they are being driven economically.
What you'll need to succeed
It is essential that you have a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and have an up to date understanding of the licensing legislation. An LGV license would be beneficial, but not essential. You will have ideally come from a heavy vehicle fleet management background, whether this be through waste management, haulage, the armed forces or similar.
What you'll get in return
As part of Birmingham City Councils Big City Plan, by 2022, they will have hoped to have created an additional 50,000 jobs in the city and contributing over £2 billion to the economy each year. You will be helping to contribute to providing 65,000 square meters of new and improved public spaces and over 5,000 new homes and leisure facilities whilst valuing the city's heritage and cultural assets. This will all culminate in the 2022 Commonwealth Games bringing Birmingham once again to the world stage.
