What will you be doing?
The Logistics Manager will be reporting to the General Manager, you will be required to ensure that the service operates efficiently and seamlessly with a focus on ensuring the 15 sites in South Downs remain within permit limits at all times. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for compliance with contractual constraints and making sure that the fleet runs at all times in accordance with current legislation.
The Logistics Manager will have overall responsibility for the Haulage Management team and will need to provide strong leadership and create a working environment that encourages teamwork, positive energy and innovation.
The Logistics Manager will plan and direct company operations to improve productivity and efficiency by working closely with the Contract Manager, Operations Manager, Business Analysts, Finance team and General Manager to set strategic goals that lead to business growth. You will have financial responsibility for the annual budget and will be required to use a data driven approach to decision making.
You should have a positive leadership style and be instrumental in supporting employee engagement initiatives with the health and safety of our teams at the heart of everything we do.
The contract runs a fleet of 12 hook lift vehicles, 9 artic units and 9 trailers based across 3 locations within East Sussex running 7 days per week 362 days per year. The fleet ensures that c. 300k tonnes of waste per year is safely, legally and efficiently routed into the required facilities.
Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the Haulage and Logistics Transport Operation
Lead a team to deliver a Haulage & Logistics operation, ensuring all staff, visitors and contractors follow site rules
Manage the Haulage & Logistics Team service delivery on a daily basis, liaise with other Veolia business units to provide efficient work scheduling and planning to manage customer expectations
Managing over 30 drivers on a daily basis, dealing with any issues, route planning and investigations
What are we looking for?
Previous experience working as a Logistics / Transport Manager
Good understanding of legal regulations e.g Road Haulage and Operations and Health and Safety at work
Essential:
National CPC
IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
Experience of managing large workforces
Experience of the haulage/logistics industry
Good leadership skills
Good IT skills
Desirable:
NEBOSH
Experience of the waste industry
Experience of working with Unions
