Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Manager to join their team working on a major infrastructure project in London.

As the Rail Logistics Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of the logistics related to transport of materials by rail, including muck away operations from the Station to the designated consolidation areas, development and optimisation of site logistics solutions to meet the needs of the project.

Key responsibilities

Ensuring effective planning, directing and coordination with the construction, site logistic teams and rail freight operators.
Plan the use of rail logistic routes through the project phases focusing on availability of the network, location of depots and consolidation centres and compliance with the HS&W Plan, Environmental Plan and WI1700.
Use the look-ahead programmes to produce daily, weekly and long term movements plans
Responsible for ensuring rail logistics activities are not a constraining factor on the program, where deemed unavoidable ensuring the issues are communicated in order that de-confliction can occur.
Provide input in the selection of a delivery management technique, process and system.
Provide logistics instruction to the suppliers involved in the delivery of materials and muck away operations by rail.
Manage all movements by rail to and from site and keeping associated records.
Enforce the full use of the organisation's delivery management system.
Plan to and maximise load capacity on all units arriving at site were possible, ensure suppliers use appropriate Networks Rail means for delivery.
Coordinate with the Rail Interface Manager in all the issues related with movement of materials by train.

Qualifications, Certifications & Experience
HNC or HND. NVQ Level 6 / 7 Construction Contracting Operations Management may be acceptable where a very significant level of experience in a senior technical role can be demonstrated.
Membership of an appropriate Professional body.
4 years experience as Logistic Manager for significant civil engineering construction project involving rail interface.
A track record of delivery within a construction management or logistics function that has led to performance improvement e.g. cost reduction, process/service enhancements, innovation, winning work etc.
Have an excellent track record of project delivery: safely, to timescale, quality and cost.
Have demonstrable experience of leadership, building and motivating teams.
Demonstrate excellent presentation, negotiation skills organisational skills, ability to plan and manage own time.
