Material Planning and Logistics Manager
The company
My client is a global business s pecialising in door security. They furnish electrical and mechanical locks, door closers, exit devices, steel doors and frames and for business premises provide biometrics, special surfaces, video surveillance, wireless connectivity, cloud technology and other electronic safety solutions.
The Role
Manage a team of supply chain analysts.
Co-ordinate the development, maintenance, communication, and publication of the Materials Requirements Plans (MRP) to ensure that customer requirements are met.
Maintain Raw Materials, Consumables and Components inventories within target, while minimizing excess, obsolete and expired materials (Inventory Destruction Avoidance (IDA)).
Contribute to the global balancing of Materials within Global Planning, ensuring efficient and effective procurement & inventory practices and optimizing the balance between quality, service, reliability, and cost.
Partner with Global Procurement to drive Supplier performance improvement including quality and on-time delivery (OTD) at Platform level.
Translate the priorities into objectives, leading to maximize the Service Level, minimize the logistic costs and inventories, and accelerate the physical flows from suppliers to customers; contribute to supply chain synergies
Interfaces globally with Supplier Quality, site Quality, Finance, and warehouse staff regarding rejected / defective materials, making the necessary physical arrangements with the supplier to ensure a prompt return of goods or disposal.
Inventory, Operational, Planning (SIOP) Champion - develop, promote, and continuously improve the process.
Works with Sales to establish demand and Operations to create capacity to meet customer needs.
Identification of the "plan for every part" strategy.
Optimisation of inventory levels ensuring alignment with budget/forecast/customer demand
Review of Min/Max levels on periodic basis to ensure these reflect any changes within the supply chain process
Ensuring stock orders are planned in line with demand and stock is rotated effectively
Owns the site perpetual inventory process
Ensure resources are aligned to future customer requirements.
Lead operational improvement, including cost down initiatives.
Produce an accurate and articulate operational monthly report.
Ensure compliance with relevant Environmental, Health & Safety (HSE) regulations,
Full compliance with the Company procedures.
Developing and maintaining constructive working relationship with logistics service providers
Be a leading figure in supply chain meetings and measure the supplier performance via the use of KPI's; review and communicate the progress of SC performance
Promote a continuous improvement mindset within the Supply Chain department
Assume responsibility re employee appraisal process
About You
Production Control and Material Planning
Transportation and warehousing
Ability to develop, coach and lead a team of direct reports in the execution, strategies and realization of departmental and company goals (ensuring succession planning as appropriate)
Ability to build strong collaborative teams and relationships both at site level and platform level when required.
Ability to communicate clearly, making the complex clear and compelling to all levels of the organization in both written & oral forms. Ability to translate complex situations into simple working solutions.
Ability to drive & apply continuous process improvement tools and improvements to large and complex projects.
Demonstrate prior experience of managing inventory levels to ensure customer demand is met whilst minimising working capital requirements
Experienced in using stocking planning / ERP systems is essential (AX)
