The Role:

Reporting directly to the Head of Transport, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient planning and execution of customer delivery schedules on time and in full. You will seek improvement opportunities which will have a positive impact on service whilst closely managing costs. This is achieved through high levels of customer service and strong engagement and cross functional ways of working. You will have responsibility of managing a planning team and all drivers based at your sites.

This is a regional role and will involve weekly travel to your sites at Middlesbrough and Widnes or other locations as required to fulfil your duties.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

+ Strive for zero RIDDOR reportable incidents.
+ Drive customer experience and delivery of OTIF and all other operations KPI’s.
+ Deliver significant improvements in sustainability measures such as fuel consumption and driver behaviour score.
+ Ensure compliance to all company and legislative requirements in conjunction with the Fleet and Compliance Manager.
+ Develop talent, plan for succession and ensure development of the Regional Transport team.
+ Develop the transport strategy across your region to align with the rest of the business.
+ Seek opportunities to deliver cost saving and process efficiencies working with key stakeholders working towards standardisation of working practices in the function.
+ Develop a people centric culture where the safety of our people is our utmost priority
+ Develop strategies, including use of available technology, to make us a great place to work where employees receive quality communication and to retain talent within the function and minimise turnover.

We Are Looking For

The role is suitable for a highly motivated individual with previous experience of working within a Supply Chain & Logistics function, ideally in a Transport Management function. You will be an excellent communicator and have the ability to develop, influence, inspire and motivate others to reach higher standards and performance. You will be customer focused, have excellent numerical, analytical and computer skills. You will have the ability to work under pressure, delegate tasks and get the very best from the team. It is essential that successful candidates hold a full UK Driving License with HGV Category C or above. Ideally you will be qualified or willing to work towards a CPC in Road Haulage and ADR Qualifications.
