My client is well established as a major player in the engineering market sector where they design a range of world-class engineered systems. Having successfully recruited for this business for over 3 years and recruited staff from shop-floor to Director level, I can honestly say this is a forward-thinking organisation and a great place to work.

Established for 28 years, this business generates c£60 million annual sales and is bucking the downward trend of the current pandemic. Because of a strategic decision, they are now looking to recruit a Trade Compliance & Logistics Manager to join the team and support the businesses export activities.

The role of the Trade Compliance & Logistics Manager will be as follows:

The role will be brokerage and technical compliance for all exported goods and services as well as inward processing relief
75% of your time will be spent on trade compliance and 25% logistics management
To implement and install all the correct policies & procedures including training with the Sales Teams, Contract Engineers and Despatch Admin Teams
Responsible for managing Incoterms - Responsible for reviewing all imports and exports concerning product classification and tariff codes; the application of appropriate licences, administration and execution of Inward Processing Relief from import notification to export entry; and oversight of attested export documentation such as CoO’s & CoC’s (Certificate of Origin and Certificate of Conformity)
Manage all aspects of Inward Processing including liaising with HRMC
Manage all Intrastat reporting which is a legal monthly obligation for companies who move goods across borders in the EU
Responsible for managing internal controls and external audits thus ensuring the Company meets its obligations concerning Trade Compliance and HMRC reporting
Managing a small team of up to 5 personnel – 1-2-1’s, appraisals, training, development and support/leadership
Manage and review end to end supply chain and the logistics/movement of goods with 3rd party logistics and freight forwarders
Benchmarking and identifying improved contracts/agreements/rates with logistics and freight forwarding companies

The ideal Trade Compliance & Logistics Manager will have the following:

Experienced in Trade & Compliance ideally within engineering, manufacturing or 3PL (3rd party logistics)
You must demonstrate strong working experience in international trade, goods and services and Incoterms
Preferably degree qualified in a business-related discipline, ideally commerce, economics or commercial law
Demonstrable knowledge and application of UK, EU and US import and export controls, global customs regulations and international trade
Operational experience in export/import operations and management of third-party logistics providers
Significant practical experience of ERP systems – ideally SAP
