Our Wrexham based client has been established for more than half a century and are market leaders in the formulation, development and manufacture of animal feed solutions for customers throughout the UK, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Transport Manager to complement their professional mill environment team.

Employing more than 250 staff at five sites across the country and with a fleet of more than 50 lorries operating on a 24/7 basis, they ensure feed arrives on time and in full with a real focus on biosecurity prior to delivery, on site and during departure, and the successful Transport Manager will lead the transport team to ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery and collection of finished products and raw materials in order to deliver business objectives, with responsibility for 42 drivers operating 13 vehicles across several shifts.

Throughout this role you will have the opportunity to utilise your management skills to drive consistently excellent performance to deliver KPIs for Safety, Quality, Service and Cost whilst promoting an inclusive culture that is focused on employee engagement. Day to day, this will involve setting targets, undertaking regular appraisals and dealing with absence, capability and disciplinary matters. You will continually motivate and support the team by encouraging professional development and providing consistent feedback.

A further aspect of this role is managing the transport scheduling, planning delivery schedules in accordance with driver's hours to maximise utilisation of company resources. This will involve liaising with the mill production team, customers and suppliers to ensure an efficient flow of information so all internal and external requirements are met, and you will have the responsibility to ensure the transport fleet is run within the Operator Licence Guidelines and that all relevant documentation relating to each day's work is completed to ensure compliance with current road haulage legislation and company policy and procedures.

To be considered for this varied and challenging role, you will essentially need to demonstrate a working knowledge of Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive Legislation with strong experience of managing a team in a transport planning/scheduling environment - preferably with a Transport Manager CPC or equivalent - and strong communication skills and the ability to establish good relationships with customers and staff, building a wide and effective networks of contacts.
