Transport Manager

£30,000 - £40,000 (Depending on experience)


Monday – Friday

Key Responsibilities:-

* Ensure the effective operation of the Transport function, driving continuous improvements & further develop integrated transport solutions to deliver a premium & cost effective service
* Run the Transport operation in order to meet agreed budgets and KPI's covering costs, productivity and service standard
* Manage the performance of the fleet in order to ensure maximum operational efficiency and service excellence
* Demonstrate the expected behaviours and standards of a people leader to help recruit, engage and develop the capability of our people and generate the right customer service culture for our business
* Ensure all Health and Safety incidents/accidents are investigated, recorded and appropriate action is taken
* Communicate effectively to internal and external customers
* To plan the daily workload for our fleet, maximizing vehicle utilisation whilst serving our customers to the high standard that we expect
* Be fully conversant with the working practices and procedures of a general haulage operation
* To develop good working relationships using clear communication skills with both the drivers and office team members
* Supporting the team to ensure the smooth running of the overall transport operation

Required Skills:-

* CPC Qualification (essential)
* Previous general haulage and multi-customer management experience within a Transport Management role (essential)
* Pallet-network transport experience (desirable)
* Supervisory or Transport Management experience of a fleet exceeding 20 HGV’s
* Have demonstrable leadership experience and be an effective communicator across all levels
* H&S, Compliance and Fleet management experience
* Previous transport planning experience
* Possess the ability to pro-actively plan ahead and work on your own initiative
* An up to date knowledge of WTD, tachographs and related legislation
* Excellent customer service and influencing skills
* A ‘can-do,’ positive, forward thinking attitude
* Strong people management skills
