We are currently recruiting for a leading retail logistics distributor based in Bilston - WV14
Job Title: Transport Team Manager
Department/Location: Retail Supply Chain - Bilston WV14
Reports to: Operations Manager
Contract type: 6 Month Contract
Salary: £23,000 pa pro rata
About the role
As a Transport Team Manager you will ensure deliveries arrive at store on time and in a safe, compliant manner.
Ensure the delivery schedule is resourced to meet agreed requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) by providing effective management, control of processes, good communication, great leadership and motivation, and training and development.
As a Transport Team Manager your duties will consist of:
Direct the daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for colleagues
Implement the daily schedule as issued by the Transport Planning Managers
Day to day management of driver colleagues
Delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Plan, manage and adjust staffing levels to meet operational requirements
Manage attendance in line with company process and hold relevant meetings within timescale
Manage any disciplinary/grievance issues that arise as per the Union/Company agreement, liaising with senior managers and HR department for clarification and support
Carry out new starter colleague probation reviews
Celebrate and recognise success of the team by using Colleague of The Month or regular feedback sessions to advise colleagues on how they are doing
Ensure Company policies and Standard Operating Procedures are communicated, implemented and enforced where appropriate
Strong knowledge of Transport operations and legislation
Previous Management experience
Knowledge of Health & Safety Requirements
Excellent organisational skills
Good verbal and numerical skills
Effective everyday conversations to support team performance and development
Analyse data and information, establish root cause and put in place corrective action
Use knowledge to identify opportunities to improve operation and efficiencies and engage and support colleagues to help them deliver
Support change by sharing ideas and identifying opportunities for improvement
Capable of coping with significant change and a fast-paced environment About our client:
