Transport Manager
Global Freight Forwarding Company
£30 - 40,000 dependant on experience
Trafford Park, Manchester
Duties and Responsibilities
Train and develop the Road freight forwarding planning team
Conduct staff appraisals at least once per year
Assist supervisors with goal setting and monitoring KPI's
Recruit new freight forwarding planners to join the team
Monitor road freight reports
Manage implementation and ensure compliance of client SOP's.
Ensure new business is correctly set up and managed efficiently and productively
Build strong relationships with service providers and customers
Actively develop business through sales and retention working with sales department
5 sales calls per week
Provide pricing alternatives, route solutions and technical assistance
Maintained a good relationship with the customer at all levels (agents, management, and decision maker).
Upsell company products and services
Ensure KPI's and profitability goals are on target
Manage accounts payable to vendors
Continually evaluate departmental client base and revenue distribution (no more than 10% revenue by one customer)
Key competencies and personality needed to succeed
Interpersonal and people management skills to develop and motivate team
Confident to sell and negotiate
Ability to implement change in regards to new systems and processes
Resilient and able to use initiative to solve problems
Reliable and accurate
Competent with IT systems including Microsoft office and CRM
Knowledge of freight forwarding and market
