About the role:
We have a great opportunity for a CPC qualified Transport Manager to join a growing fleet and transport team.

As a Transport Manager, your role will be to maintain consistently high standards and reliability across the team of drivers and driver supervisors.  These teams drive both waste and water tankers, HIAB vehicles from 7.5t up to 26t with beavertail and various vans and trailers.

The Transport manager role sits within our Logistics Operations Control Centre (LOCC) and supports the business in providing a cost effective delivery of inventory and logistics solutions through the driving and operating of LGV and HGV vehicles and you will be responsible for delivering consistently high standards and reliability in line with legislative and company specific requirements, whilst achieving optimum utilisation through effective management of people, resource, work planning and risk across the fleet of vehicles, drivers and supervisors.
 
Key Accountabilities:

Develop and implement a Service Level Agreement to ensure ongoing validity and continuous improvement.
Develop systems of work to deliver a compliant, cost effective and consistent service
Monitor and manage performance against compliance standards and operational targets, implementing action plans to mitigate any risks arising.
Provide performance reporting, to provide an overview of performance against service levels, compliance, complaints, targets, etc
Effective resourcing and planning to enable delivery of both planned and reactive work
Maintain adequate and effective resource and optimise fleet availability
Support the compliance of the Operator’s Licence through effective infringement control, driver training and development.  Keeping the Fleet Manager informed of any infringements notifiable to the Traffic Commissioner in a timely manager and in line with ‘O’ licence requirements.
Ensure vehicle and people standards are understood and embedded across the team
Work with the Fleet management team to ensure that vehicle and driver incidents are investigated
Investigate any driver complaints and delivery failures
Management of staff and vehicle operating costs in line with budget To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

It is essential that you hold the CPC National licence, good knowledge of transport and compliance Management experience in transport is essential
Previous experience of managing drivers and their performance is required as is being able to demonstrate your knowledge of Operator Licence compliances, Transport law and the Road Traffic Act
This is a new role and therefore the ability to build strong foundations, supported by effective systems and processes, to support our objectives and delight our customers, is essential
You will have a strong understanding of operational Health & Safety and good analytical, problem solving and numerical skills
Good communication and IT skills are also key in this role as is the ability to work with own initiatives and meet deadlinesWhat’s in it for you?
