KENNING Car Van & Truck Rental has announced plans to double the size of its commercial vehicle operation from 4,500 to 9,000 vehicles by the year 2000. The company's goal is to re-establish itself as the commercial vehicle market leader, and it has returned to Kenning's original red and blue livery to reinforce its aims.

Kenning currently operates around 9,500 cars and 4,500 vans in the UK from 83 locations, as part of the wider United Kenning Rental Group. The initiative will redress the balance in fleet size between Kenning's commercial vehicle division and its car rental division which has developed significantly in recent years.

The range of Kenning's commercial vehicles is being extended in both range and size to include Ford, LDV, Iveco, Leyland Daf, Fiat, Volkswagen, MAN and Mercedes Benz. The company has identified niche business opportunities for its commercial vehicle operation, with local authorities, utility companies, building and construction organisations, as well as replacement vehicle suppliers.
