Ford 2000 and the worldwide web

FORD with its Worldwide Connection web has become the first car manufacturer to create an integrated, multilingual internet service. Users worldwide accessing Ford's site automatically enter directly into one of 50 national home pages in local language based on their log-on location.

Ford chairman and chief executive Alex Trotman, announcing the initiative at the Paris Motor Show, said: 'The worldwide web is a perfect fit to the global concept of Ford 2000, which has stimulated all areas of the company to re-evaluate and re-engineer the processes we use to design, develop, manufacture and market our products. The internet is becoming a fundamental tool in marketing our products and dissemninating information to our customers everywhere.'
