CBI calls for new green fleet incentives

AS the 'green' fleet lobby gathers momentum the Confederation of British Industry has published a new guide to transport best practice called 'All Aboard!' in which it calls on companies to reduce the environmental impact of their transport policies to cut costs and remain competitive.

The CBI has examined how other European governments have incentivised environmental fleet practices, and in the new year it will be spelling out precisely how the Government can encourage UK fleet operators to 'green-up' their act with tax breaks and other fiscal measures.

Measures outlined in the booklet include:

Last year, the CBI called for increased public expenditure on all modes of transport and reform of the current fiscal and pricing regime in its 'Moving Forward' document. 'All Aboard!' takes the employers' organisation's campaign another stage further by highlighting the win-win situations where both business and the environment benefit from greater efficiency and increased sustainability.

'All Aboard!' is available at £5 for members, £10 for non-members from the CBI at Centre Point, 103 New Oxford Street, London WC1A 1DU. Tel: 0171 379 7400.
