THE Fleet Driver Training Association has appointed its first new member following the launch of the organisation by 10 founder members. Aylesbury-based Defensive Driving Consultants was admitted to the Association at its second meeting.

David Withnall, Defensive Driving Consultant's marketing director, explained that the company had applied to join the FDTA following the front page launch in Fleet News (January 19).

The FDTA aims: to provide fleet managers with industry wide and recognisable standards; to promote the need for driver training throughout the fleet industry; to try to ensure the standard of instruction among driver training companies is a consistently high one; and to lobby the Government over safety-related issues on behalf of the driver training industry.
