BRITAIN'S General Union - the GMB - is updating its national vehicle fleet and has placed an order with Vauxhall Master Hire Leasing for 300 Vauxhall Vectras. After switching to Vauxhall Cavaliers from a predominantly Ford-based fleet in 1994, the GMB has renewed its commitment to the Vauxhall marque by extending its single-badge arrangement to 1998.

The latest contract - worth more than £4.25 million at showroom prices - comprises a mix of Vectras including the diesel and 1.8 16v LS models.

During the next two years the vehicles will be used by union officers throughout the UK. The vehicles are being supplied by Richmond Vauxhall dealer Lance Owen and servicing and general maintenance will be carried out by local Vauxhall dealers.
