RENAULT'S Megane Classic - the saloon version in the six car range - will go on sale in the UK in the first quarter of next year at the same time as the Scenic - the MPV version of the Megane. At 4.40 metres in length, the saloon is long for its class and (for non-metric types) nearly a foot longer than the hatchback version. The boot has a capacity of 18 cu ft. Engines for the Classic will be the same as the hatchback but without the lead-in 1.4 petrol model.

'Special' prices for key options on RN and RT versions of the new Megane hatchback are expected to further appeal to fleets and company car drivers. Effectively RN and RT five-door models are available with sunroof, and RT models with electrics pack as standard features at a price lower than when they were available as options.

While list prices for RN and RT models without sunroof and electrics pack remain unchanged prices with sunroof prices (all prices include current Renault delivery charge of £498) are: RN 1.4e £11,383, RN 1.9D £11,803, RT 1.4e £12,063, RT 1.9D £12,533. Prices with electrics pack: RT 1.4e £12,008, RT 1.9D £12,478. Prices with electrics pack and sunroof: RT 1.4e £12,203, RT 1.9D £12,673, RT 1.6e £12,493, RT 1.9TD £13,418.
