THE Alhambra - SEAT's version of the Ford Galaxy/VW Sharan people mover - goes on sale from June 28 at a price still to be announced. SEAT promises it will be cheaper than those other vehicles when specification is taken into account.

The roomy MPV will feature standard air conditioning and a pollen filter. It will be launched in just one specification - SE - with a 2.0 litre (115 bhp) or 1.9 litre TDI Diesel (90 bhp), both with manual transmission. An automatic version of the petrol model goes on sale in September.

Standard specification will include twin airbags, roof rails, central locking, electric front windows, anti-theft immobiliser and front seatbelt pretensioners as well as an eight-speaker RDS radio/cassette sound system. The Alhambra will also have a warranty edge over some of its rivals with the offer of three years/unlimited mileage cover. The Alhambra will become the fifth model in the expanding SEAT range, joining the Ibiza, Cordoba, Toledo and - coming soon - the SX Coupe.
