New-to-market brands from China have achieved significant sales in the true fleet market in H1 2025.
Figures provided to Fleet News show that true fleet sales for BYD, Omoda and Jaecoo have soared, while the performance of some established premium brands have suffered.
BYD's true fleet sales were up by 643% in the six months of 2025, when compared to the same period last year.
The brand has secured almost 7,500 true fleet registrations this year, enabling it to leapfrog rival brand MG in the overall sales ranking.
Jaecoo, which launched in the UK in February, has already sold more than 3,000 cars into the true fleet market - outperforming brands such as Fiat, Seat and Mazda.
Sister brand Omoda has also had a strong start, outselling the likes of Citroen and Honda in true fleet.
It gives the Chinese newcomer brands a combined true fleet market share of almost 8%.
Overall, the true fleet market was up by 7% in H1, with Volkswagen leading the sales charts. The German car brand acheived an uplift in true fleet sales of 19%, pushing it 12,000 units ahead of second-placed BMW.
Premium brands have had a rough start to the year with Audi (-32%), BMW (-12%) and Mercedes (-4%) all seeing a decline in true fleet sales.
In contrast, mainstream brands like Hyundai (+34%), Skoda (+19%) and Toyota (+18%) have all seen gains.
Despite a 3% reduction in overall true fleet registrations, Tesla makes the UK's best-selling company car. The Model 3 sits at the top of the table with more than 9,000 registered so far this year.
VW's Tiguan was the second most popular model, followed by the Tesla Model Y.
The true fleet market continues to drive the majority of electric car sales, with 115,908 registered as company cars in H1 - more than twice the amount sold to privare buyers. The majority of company cars are still powered by internal combustion engines, however.
