MITSUBISHI will launch a turbodiesel version of the Carisma in the UK next year. Two versions - a 1.9 GL TD and 1.9 GLX TD - will be available with the car as a saloon or a hatchback. An electric glass sunroof with anti-trapping feature and ABS brakes are available.

Both versions are well equipped, with the GLX adding electric windows all round rather than just at the front. The Carisma diesel should also be one of the hardest to steal with its ignition key also actuating an immobiliser which prevents the car being hot-wired. Mitsubishi quotes old-style fuel economy figures of 40.4mpg on the urban cycle, 67.3mpg at 56mph and 48.7mpg at 75mph. Service intervals are every 4,500 miles.
