CALLS have been made for fleet managers to rigorously check driving licences of all drivers and staff using their own vehicles for business after it was revealed that more than one million company car drivers have never had their licences checked.

It was claimed this week that 32% of company car drivers had never had their licences checked by their employers - a figure described as 'astonishing' by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents particularly when fleet managers and companies could be liable in the event of an accident.

The figure was highlighted by RoSPA following a survey of more than 500 company car drivers by Lease Plan.
